Curator: Gérard Bosio and Adrien Bossard in partnership with the Musée Soulages Rodez
This exhibition is part of the celebration of its 100th anniversary after the opening of the Center Pompidou and the Louvre events with the collection of 20 paintings from major museums around the world.
For the tribute paid to Nice by the Departmental Council, more than one hundred original works were brought together: paintings, engraved works, bronze, illustrated books.
To better understand and know the universe and the references of this exceptional painter, the testimonies and works of artists from the Soulages world and his dialogues with cultures have been brought together.
The title of this event was composed by an honorary citizen of the city of Nice, Léopold Sédar Senghor, Senegalese poet and head of state who was also a friend and analyst of Pierre Soulages.
These historical ties allowed the choice of the poet to accompany this Maralpine exhibition.
The exhibiton presents seventy-two original painted and engraved works by the artist in a chronological itinerary from 1946 to 2008.
In southern France, the exhibition of this Mediterranean painter aims to dedicate Pierre Soulages as the inventor of a new painting of mysterious beauty.
The exhibition is done in partnership with the Soulages Museum of Rodez
